Kopi Nalar

May 29th, 2017. A rainy day. I woke up with a strong desire to sleep again. It’s really cold outside. And my AC just got serviced. So, it’s in the best condition. Well, I got options this morning. Took a shower or pulled back my blanket. “And the Oscar goes to..” my bathroom. Ok, last night I planned to go to a new coffee shop that I saw around my timeline. I have an event nearby. So, let’s go to Kopi Nalar.

Coffee at Nalar, a cup of sense. At Nalar, we aim to serve you more than just a cup of coffee. With every serving, we strive to give you a sense of warmth in mind and senses. A cup of common sense to be shared over friendly conversations in a comfy place. We’re now bulding a community which will help us deliver our vision of a cozy and inspiring coffee shop to our customers.
Located on the side of the road, Kopi Nalar had no sign yet. I just using maps to find the place. It’s not far from Senopati area. Easy to find it, if you can read the map. When I stepped inside, I knew right away that I was in love with the place. They divided into 4 areas. The first one, the outdoor, just a simple table. Then the second one is semi smoking area. It’s colourful with beanbangs all around and an area for smoking. The third area is near the coffee bar. It’s comfortable with lovely sofa. The forth area is the spacious one. Lots of plugs too. Very convenient to work with your notebook. You can do “me-time” too there. Bring your novel and enjoy the moment.

I’m in love! The hazelnut latte is fresh and sweet and delicious. It’s raining but I need my cold drink hahaha. It’s always good to drink ice latte in a rainy day. You should try.

Hot Latte 30k

Definitely will be back for the food. The barista told me that they will have cakes in the afternoon, but I have to leave soon, so, next time, for sure.

MONKS

A cafe in Kelapa Gading called MONKS. Unique concept of urban Japanese cafe who served various kind of brunch menu and coffee. The first impression for this cafe was so amazing! Personally we loved how the good design they put into this cafe theme. Consists of several dinning area. The first one was in the first floor with industrial theme, there is an open bar and kitchen in this area. Pretty spacious with modern design vibe.

Everyone would agree that MONKS concept was great and now we should move what do they have here. The brunch menu was quite tempting, but its already late afternoon when we were arrived and they only serve it from 7AM to 11AM, so maybe next time we should try their brunch.

From the Lunch & Dinner list we start with The Gyo-Cos (50k) as our starters. A fusion of Japanese and Western food consists of beef/pork meat, mixed veggie, avocado, sour cream and wrapped in taco skin. It should have a nice crunchy and crispy texture but its rather tough to be eaten. The pork meat was nice combined with the veggies and sour cream. Those crispiness of their taco need to be improve. A plus point for the colorful platting for this taco!

The last dish that we got is The Rising Sun (100k). Consists of three mini hamburg steak, poached eggs, french fries and mixed veggie. For me it just an okay, actually the hamburg steak was nice and well cooked. I found a good match with their tasty sauce. But I think it could be better if the poached eggs served in half-cooked and not over cooked? Or a little bit re-touch for their presentation? Because the other two has a really good presentation. What do you think?

It wasn’t the best experienced we got at MONKS but I think they will get improvements in the future. We will be back to try another experience and their brunch for sure. Despite I haven’t try their coffee, I expect to have a good experience for our next visit because their fancy coffee machine and fully-equipped coffee bar should get me satisfy.

The Hideout

I knew Hideout a long time ago. But didn’t have chance to visit the place right away since it’s far from my home. At my previous journey to Serpong, they closed on Saturday or Sunday, I forgot. But now they open everyday. That’s why I finally visited it.

I thought it’s a small place. When I opened the door, it’s like another world inside. You will meet a coffee bar, then a bigger area with gorgeous mural. We chose the second floor since they have sofas. They also have smoking area upstair, and cartoon murals all over the wall. Love it.

I highly recommend visiting this place as it is very good looking and they serve delicious food and drinks

Sleepyhead Coffee

I heard about this coffeeshop from a long time ago. But because it didn’t open on Sunday, it’s really hard for me to visit the place with my hang-out-buddies. I tried to go there by myself, but I found it’s weird for me to go to a new place without a company. So, when I had a chance to visit on a rainy Wednesday, I took my friends to the coffeeshop.

I found that I really did enjoy my time there and I do recommend visiting the place. I really do love the design of the place as it is very cozy and relaxing.

The food and the drinks also do taste immaculate.

First Crack Coffee

The other day when I was in Sunter I checked for good cafes nearby and I stumbled upon one named first crack coffee. I went there around 12 pm and boy was it crowded, people from all ages were lining up to get in and so I had to wait around 20 minutes before I got in. The service was very good as when I was still seated outside while waiting for a table inside, the staff would come out and asked whether I needed anything or if I wanted to order.

The exterior of the place is normal as its located inside Altira Business Park. After my table was ready, I went inside only to notice that the interior design of the place is also very normal.

As the place was very crowded, it was very noisy and I couldn’t really relax or focus on the music, hence I didn’t feel comfortable at all. As for what I ordered, I had the chicken and fries and salted egg croissant as well as the chocolate dessert drink. The chicken and fries were good, and I really liked the chocolate drink as well as the croissant. However the croissant was served on a small tile which was rather impractical as the tile was smaller compared to the croissant.

All in all, I loved the food and the drink I had but I didn’t really enjoy my time as it was very crowded and noisy. hence I would recommend going here during working hours or weekdays so that it isn’t very crowded.

BEAU

The other day I decided to go to another famous coffee shop in Senopati named Beau. The design of the exterior is very good, there are a lot of plants which really add to the design as the minimalistic shape of the coffee shop mixed with the placement of the plants makes Beau look really beautiful.

As for the interior, everything is immaculately placed, making Beau a very artistic and cozy place. even the music played matches the style of the place as most of the music inside is slow calming songs which made me very relaxed.

Don’t even get me started on the food here, I ordered their buttermilk chicken burger as well as their famed smorrebrod, which is a Nordic dish, famous in Norway, as for the drink I ordered a matcha latte. All of these dishes tasted really good. The buttermilk chicken burger was the highlight of my day though as it was juicy and very tasty.

All In all I really recommend visiting this place as it is one of the best coffee shops that I’ve ever been to.

Kopi Nalar – Senopati

The first coffee shop that I want to review is Kopi Nalar. Kopi Nalar is a relatively new coffee shop located in Senopati, it was opened in May 2017. The first time I came here, I immediately noticed how good the design of the place is, it looks very much like a futuristic hipster coffee shop, there are many places to take photos and also its very cozy.

The main reason people come to Kopi Nalar is due to the very creative design, this is proven by the fact that when Kopi Nalar first opened, they actually didn’t have a name, however it became popular because people see the cool exterior and are lured inside.

Other than the cozy interior and the artistic exterior, the food and drinks they serve tastes fantastic and are very reasonably priced, moreover, the service is impeccable as from the moment that I entered the coffee shop and to the moment I left, the staff were always smiling and offering their services.

As for the customers, after working hours, it is normally very crowded and it would be hard to find a place to sit as people normally hangout or work from 4-6 hours, hence I recommend going to Kopi Nalar during weekdays or working hours.

By my verdict, I think that Kopi Nalar lives up to the hype and I highly recommend going there.
